Jeanne Trueax

Jeanne Trueax is a Colorado native, currently calling Castle Rock her home. After earning a BA in Studio Art from Colorado Women’s College, she worked as a graphic artist/illustrator for various ad agencies and printing companies. She took time off to raise three children, and is now able to create artwork again with renewed enthusiasm.

She loves the medium of pen & ink, and finds it challenging to attempt to achieve texture and depth with nothing more than a blank sheet of paper and a pen. “Patterns in nature fascinate me. I can look at the bark on a tree, or the way the rocks on a canyon wall bend and meld, for hours on end. I love to try to interpret those images on paper. I find it extremely relaxing to draw black and white patterns. Color, on the other hand, freaks me out. This might be why I paint bright, big images. I don’t seem to have an in-between setting. It’s either small and intricately detailed, or large ‘slap in the face’ color.”
